Core Purpose

Bread for the world; In our parish the Holy Spirit will empower our youth to be a vessel of God's love, strengthen by the Eucharist, to share God's renewed promise of salvation through service to others.

By 2020 our Youth Ministry will have people igniting hearts and unify the church community as one 'ohana (family).

Youth Ministry Life Teen Program

At St. Theresa the “Life Teen” model is used.  Over 1600 parishes worldwide use this model.  It is focused on the Mass and gathering teens together at a Life Night.  The focus is bringing teens to Christ in the Eucharist and gathering them to be formed in the Roman Catholic faith.  With the Blessed Virgin Mary as our intercessor and guide, Life Teen seeks to unleash the fullness of the Sacramental power present within the young Church.

Young people in High School gather for 5:30 PM Mass Sunday evening.  After Mass the youth gather under the guidance of the Youth Minister to learn, apply and share faith with others.  Curriculum guides contain teachings, small group discussions, powerful prayer experiences and all that is needed to create life changing catechetical experiences.

The Youth Minister, Core Members, Parents and Parishioners help lead teens closer to Christ through their living example, active participation, prayers and support with the program. The entire group is provided some refreshment as part of the gathering.

Preparation for Confirmation is a two year process.  Confirmation is a sacrament of initiation, the second of the three sacraments through which people become members of the Christian community.  The aims of this preparation are:

  • Teaching that Confirmation increases and deepens the grace of Baptism
  • Confirmation strengthens their bond with Christ and the Church
  • Teaches the role, gifts and fruits of the Holy Spirit
  • Being developmentally appropriate
  • Teaches the Rite of Confirmation and its basic symbols: the imposition of hands, the anointing with Sacred Chrism and the words of the sacramental formula
  • Ensures parents and sponsors become involved in preparation and ongoing faith formation of the candidate
  • Teaches the bishop is the ordinary minister of the Sacrament

Confirmation candidates meet on Sunday's from 6:45pm to 8:00pm following the Sunday 5:30pm mass.
